>4 hours work
>Managed to get a couple of hours work yesterday helping lay laminate flooring for the Hyundai stand at a car Exhibition, to take place here at goodwood showground, adelaide, between 28th and 1st (I think). Ironic that I would have paid for someone to fit the flooring in my own place, but that I get paid (who knows how much, probably not a lot, but I’ll find out friday when the pay goes in), and help lay 400sqm. Granted we didn’t lay all 400sqm in one afternoon. I was supposed to return today and possibly Sunday, but at the last minute two guys who were supposed to be helping out were apparently going to turn up. Shame, but there you are. I guess it paid for a nights accommodation and a meal :p On the other hand, I ache and my left arm looks like I’ve been in a scrap with a Koala, from carrying the laminate around. Who said I was work shy? ;p
I’m going to book to stay at least a week longer so I will contact Hays Monday morning and keep pushing for a 3 month contract doing office support, unless some other manual labour role comes about. I spoke with the receptiopnist at the hostel (who found me the job yesterday) and she mentioned one of the backpackers has a job cleaning camper vans an dmay be leaving soon….we’ll see.
So today, I find myself back at the state library. It rained some yesterday. Torrential when we were working in the exhibition building (much needed here unfortunately, so I ought not to complain about it). Thankfully we didn’t have to walk back to the hostel (we because I was working with two Germans and a Dutch backpacker). The guys with whom we worked were kind enough to stump up the $7 for a taxi. After a much needed shower the four of us headed out to the pancake kitchen, located nr King William Street (down the lane opposite Sub Way, between North Terrace and Rundle Mall should any of you find your way here and feel the need to have pancakes for dinner). I paid $12.50 for two crepe scott’s: a crepe will a minced (ground) beef filling and side salad. It filled a gap, although for $7 or so a more filling meal can be found in a food court.
I had thoughts of heading to Glenelg today given I’m no longer required to work, but its a bit breezy and a lot cooler than 3 days ago when the temperature hit around 31C. Today feels like a more modest 20C – so cold!!
